East Cobb Dentist Maintains License in Georgia and Alaska
East Cobb Dentist, Dr. Gina Hurt, DMD, is Georgia through and through but her heart is still with the people of Alaska. Traveling to Alaska is something, Dr. Gina enjoys and something that has become a ritual. She loves the landscape of Natural Resources and the kindness of Alaskans who reside in one of the most remote areas of the United States. An area, where dental care is not always available or accessible from the outskirts of the Nations 49th State.
Traveling from her home in metropolitan Atlanta, where she is a part of community to almost 7 million people to an area inhabited by under 1 million people can be a bit of a culture shock but she says, “it’s also a huge relief from traffic”.
While in Alaska, Dr. Gina does what she does here in East Cobb Marietta, cleaning teeth, filling cavities, and alleviating pain caused by poor dental health. Pulling a tooth is what a dentist would suggest but some patients insist on the fast solution to tooth pain. Dr. Gina, prefers to focus on saving the tooth or utilizing the solid base of a tooth to apply a crown or fill an area where a decay once lived.
Good hygiene consists of frequent brushing of the teeth, dental floss, dental check-ups, dental cleaning and preventative measures. That is why, Dr. Gina is always armed with some free tooth brushes and dental floss for her patients.
At her dental practice in East Cobb County – Marietta, Dr. Gina is just the same happy southern dentist as she is in Alaska, focused on dental care and bringing a warm smile and comfort to someone’s day.
East Cobb Marietta Dentist, Dr. Gina Hurt, DMD
Dr. Gina grew up watching her father practice dentistry. She started working in the office every summer between school terms since she was twelve years old. Before starting dental school, she worked in a dental laboratory for six months. After this, the perio-department hired her at the Medical College of Georgia to assist perio- residents in surgery, and to help with diagnosis of new patients.
She currently holds two dental licenses: one in Alaska and another in Georgia. Her first job after dental school was in Alaska as an a associate for Dr. Lennard Yuknis. After returning to Georgia, she went into private practice with her father and brother, who are also dentist. When she moved from Cordele, GA. to work in Atlanta, Dr. Hurt started doing fill-in work for many of the large Dental groups. Prior to her dental degree, Dr. Hurt had dental assisting experience for many years.
